The Concordance page is divided
into four frames.
Click on the first letter
of the word you are interested in, and the concordance
will take you to the appropriate starting point in the second
frame which runs
down the concordance page on the left.
Scroll down that frame to
the exact word you are looking for and click on it.
This action will take you to the Concordance proper (which
is at the top right).
You will see displayed in that frame, first,
the word and the number of times
it occurs in the poetry of Christopher Okigbo, followed by a
listing of all its
occurences, the context of occurrence, the
title and line number of each poem.
When you click on the (abbreviated) name of the poem,
the Concordance
takes you to the lower fourth (text) frame which will display several
lines of the
poem in which the word occurs. You will see the word not only in
its immediate
context within a line, but in its wider context within the poem.
This fourth frame is scrollable. You can therefore
scroll up or down to other
parts of particular poems and read as much of the poems as you
care to.
For copyright reasons, you will NOT be able to select and/or copy the
texts of the poems themselves. However, you can select, copy and/or print
any other section(s) of the concordance proper you wish for purposes
of research
or study, subject to the "fair-use" provisions of applicable copyright
laws.
For access to the poems, written permission must be sought
and obtained in advance and in writing from the copyright holders
through the Webmaster
(okigboweb@hotmail.com).
A CD ROM version of the Concordance
is available for researchers and libraries
that do not have ready access to the online Web edition.
